Love at First Sight

Well... Here is the finished product! I love my new floors! WOW! It's so different! My carpet was pretty light and the house looks so different with the darker antique cherry floors! Its wonderful!

Its kinda funny but then again not... My poor pooch won't step his feet on the floors! He hates them. The first night he came into the house and slid a little and ran back to my craft room which still has carpet. I couldn't get him out of there. I'm not kidding! It took me almost two hours to get him out. I tried bribing him with treats. Nope! That didn't fool him. I got his leash and my tennis shoes and tried to trick him into thinking we were going to go on a walk. He got all excited and was jumping until he hit the edge of the carpet and on came the brakes; to a screeching halt! He backed up to the corner under the table and wouldn't come out. The Handyman and I were not happy with Tanner or with each other! Not a pretty sight. Tanner was freaking out.. Shivering and hyperventilating.. I finally sat down with him.. calmed him down.. put his leash on and quickly dragged him around the corner to the tile entry and out the front door and back through the garage to the back yard... He hasn't been inside the house since Thursday..

I went to Lowes and bought a rug for the laundry room... I coaxed him into the house Saturday and he stayed on the rug, shaking like crazy.. I finally let him back outside. It's the weirdest thing. I guess its just going to take time for him to get used to them.

I'm glad it didn't take me that long to get used to them.. I fell in love at first sight!

We have a few more things to put back together and then I will again have a house of order.

I love the color! Cherry wood is my favorite. You'll have to invite me over so I can see it in person, LOL! I would love to have laminate floors. I hate the carpet and vacuuming Sammy's hair(fur). But then again, I shed as much as he does :)

They look beautiful! I love the contrast of the dark cherry with the maple cabinets. Just wait until something weird gets spilled and you can just easily clean it up. I can't tell you how many times I've though "thank goodness that wasn't on the carpet". The color makes all the rooms feel richer and warmer.

Wow, your floors are beautiful!! I love the shade of wood. We have a similar shade to our wood floors. I love the feel of the wood. I'm sorry your dog is freaking out. Poor guy!! I think it's just a shock to him. I wonder why he's afraid of it. Maybe you can put him on a towel and pull him along or maybe leave him on the towel until he decide to get off of it on his own and walk on the wood floor.

Michelle, your new floors are beautiful and your home so lovely! We've got wood laminate floor in our kitchen/dining area and I've been contemplating putting it in the living room and down the hall. You may have convinced me to just do it!! :)

Wow! The floors turned out just awesome!! I love the look - so beautiful!
That is a crack up about the dog.
We have hardwood just in our dining room and kitchen and the dog will race around our house and totally slide across the dining room floor it is hilarious.
I am sure your kids and grandkids will have fun with that.
Congrats on the beautiful finished product!

Your place looks amazing! I really hope your dog comes around. We put cherry hardwood flooring on our main floor going upstairs to the bonus room and guess what? We have to carry our pup up and down the stairs, she won't jump up onto the couch from the hardwood, she stays in the same place when we are out. It's crazy! I think she needs to see a psychiatrist! They get very sensitive to flooring sometimes! Well your place looks wonderful!

I'm oooohhhhing and ahhhhing--your flooring is beautiful! So happy you're getting put back together again. We put cherry in our three bedrooms and hope to extend it into our hallway and greatroom in the next few years. You've inspired me to "push the project" forward faster! Blessings and ENJOY! (Maybe your doggie needs non-skid socks!)

Hi Michelle,

I just wanted to say Thanks for the card. I hope you are enjoying the swap so far. Your card was super cute and I admire that you're so creative.

I love your floors. We lived for our house for 5 years with the original hardwood and I hated them. We carpeted 2 years ago and I love it. I love the hardwood look, it's just not me. We do have hardwood in the kitchen and dining room and I am good with that. Anyhow... great pictures.

Feel free to stop by my blog anytime.

Poor Tanner..I guess slipping on them really freaked him out.

When we took up the carpet in our bedroom we had to put a rug beside the bed so Annie could get traction to jump up on the bed. She slipped too much on the wood floor.
