Fireproof

Have you seen the new Movie Fireproof?
Photobucket

Its a low budget movie produced by a small Christian Church in Georgia. The same people that made "Facing the Giants."

It's based on the book "The Love Dare"

Too many marriages end when someone says “I’ve fallen out of love with you” or “I don’t love you anymore.” In reality, such statements reveal a lack of understanding about the fundamental nature of true love.

Each day’s entry discusses a unique aspect of love, presents a specific “dare” to do for your spouse (some will be very easy, others very challenging), and gives you a journaling area to chart the progress that you will be making.

I thought it was a great movie!

The Brick

Photobucket

A young and successful executive was traveling down a

neighborhood street, going a bit too fast in his new Jaguar.

He was watching for kids darting out from between parked

cars and slowed down when he thought he saw something.

As his car passed, no children appeared. Instead, a brick

smashed into the Jag's side door! He slammed on the brakes

and backed the Jag back to the spot where the brick had been thrown. The

angry driver then jumped out of the car, grabbed the nearest kid and

pushed him up against a parked car shouting, 'What was that all about and who

are you? Just what the heck are you doing? That's a new

car and that brick you threw is going to cost a lot of

money. Why did you do it?' The young boy was apologetic.

'Please, mister...please, I'm sorry but I didn't

know what else to do,' He pleaded. 'I threw the

brick because no one else would stop...' With tears

dripping down his face and off his chin, the youth pointed

to a spot just around a parked car. 'It's my

brother, 'he said 'He rolled off the curb and fell

out of his wheelchair and I can't lift him up.'

Now sobbing, the boy asked the stunned executive,

'Would you please help me get him back into his

wheelchair? He's hurt and he's too heavy for

me.'

Moved beyond words, the driver tried to swallow the rapidly

swelling lump in his throat. He hurriedly lifted the

handicapped boy back into the wheelchair, then took out a

linen handkerchief and dabbed at the fresh scrapes and cuts.

A quick look told him everything was going to be okay.

'Thank you and may God bless you,' the grateful

child told the stranger. Too shook up for words, the man

simply watched the boy! push his wheelchair-bound brother

down the sidewalk toward their home.

It was a long, slow walk back to the Jaguar. The damage was

very noticeable, but the driver never bothered to repair the

dented side door. He kept the dent there to remind him of

this message: 'Don't go through life so fast that

someone has to throw a brick at you to get your

attention!' God whispers in our souls and speaks to our

hearts. Sometimes when we don't have time to listen, He

has to throw a brick at us. It's our choice to listen or

not.

Thought for the Day:

If God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it.

If He had a wallet, your photo would be in it.

He sends you flowers every spring.

He sends you a sunrise every morning Face it, friend - He

is crazy about you!

God didn't promise days without pain, laughter without

sorrow, sun without rain, but He did promise strength for the

, comfort for the tears, and light for the way.

Feel Your Boobies

Guess what I get to do after work??? Its one of my favorite things.
If you've never had it done.... The following will help you prepare..

PREPARING FOR THE YEARLY MAMMOGRAM

Many women fear their first mammogram, and even if you've had them before, there is the fear. There is no need to worry. By taking a few minutes each day for a week preceding the exam, do the following practice exercises/ You will be totally prepared for the test, and best of all, you can do these simple practice exercises in the privacy of your home.

EXERCISE 1: Open your refrigerator door, and insert one breast between the door and the main box. Have one of your strongest friends slam the door shut as hard as possible and lean on the door for good measure.
Hold that position for five seconds.
Repeat in case the first time wasn't effective.

EXERCISE 2: Visit your garage at 3 a.m. when the temperature of the cement floor is just perfect. Take off all your clothes and lie comfortably on the floor sideways with one breast wedged under the rear tire of the car. Ask a friend to slowly back the car up until your breast is sufficiently flattened and chilled.
Switch sides, and repeat for the other breast.

EXERCISE 3: Freeze two metal bookends overnight.
Strip to the waist.
Invite a stranger into the room.
Have the stranger press the bookends against either side of one of your breasts and smash the bookends together as hard as he/she can.
Set an appointment with the stranger to meet next year to do it again.

You are now properly prepared!

Seriously... All women over age 40 should have their yearly mammogram!

Square Dance

My first grade Teacher, Mrs. Thomas loved square dancing. She taught our entire class how to do it. We performed around the area. I don't remember a whole lot about it but we all thought it was alot of fun. Our Mom's made our dresses and vests. Mrs Thomas thought it would be a good idea to have our school picture taken in our costumes. They were green with white polka dots. We even had little pantaloons! I am in the middle row closest to Mrs Thomas. Thanks Mom for the finger ringlets!!

For some reason we thought it was hilarious to take crazy photos of ourselves doing silly things. Here we are Pulling our top lip out. For some strange reason we thought this was really funny!! I was about 16. We even included other friends in these strange behaviors! Julie was a willing participant!

Creep

What was your first car? Mine was a 1962 VW Bug! And I had personalized plates! It was a favorite word of mine at the time. LOL! It cost me $600 which is a lot of money for a 16 year old in 1978. I had many adventures in this school bus yellow bug! I let one of my friends drive it one day while I was in class and she had a hard time with the gear shift. She broke the stick off at the base. I had the Shop class at school fix it for me. A great learning project for them. It never did shift quite right after that. The inside had wall to wall brown shag carpet! It was stylin! The throttle would stick and I would have to pull over, open the hood and fix it every couple of miles. I didn't care! It got me to school, it got me to work and it meant freedom!!

Rock and Worship

The concert last night was fabulous! WOW! It was four hours long. RockStar Chick and My Handman really loved Desciple. They're a real heavy metal head bangers bands. My favorite of course was Kutless. They have some really hard stuff but also some mellower stuff. Stellar Kart reminded me alot of Green Day and Esterlyn was really good. They're a local band that just recorded their second album. I highly recommend seeing them if you get a chance.

Round Up

This is something you don't experience every day... Anyway, I don't!
We stayed at the cemetery after the funeral so that we could visit my Dad's grave. After we left, my nieces were riding with me back to the church for a Family dinner. We had to stop the car and wait while some cattle were crossing the road. My nieces wanted me to honk the horn for them to get out of the way..

Photobucket

I had to explain to them that this happens out in the country. The men on horses round up the cattle and herd them to a new pasture. We just had to be patient for all of them to cross the road.

Family

I've known for a couple of weeks that my Aunt Marva wasn't doing very well and would probably not last much longer. I found out that she died early Wednesday morning. I lived next door to her until I was about 15. She was like a second Mama to me. Her daughter Carma Jean and I grew up as best friends. We were inseparable. There was rarely a day we weren't together. Even when one of us was in trouble or grounded we would meet out in the field near the fence and sit for hours and talk. She was on her side of the fence and I was on mine. We played the card game War and talked until one of our Mom's called us in. It almost seems like yesterday. Even though we are grown up and are Grandma's... we still laugh and cry and giggle all night everytime we're together..

Aunt Marva is one of my Dad's older sisters. She babysat us before and after school and summers. She was a soft spoken person but radiated with love. She had a sense of humor and I remember her silly little grin and laugh.
Photobucket
I will be traveling to Eastern Idaho today for her Funeral and will stay until Saturday afternoon.
I am not looking forward to the drive but look forward to seeing family that I don't often get to see. What happened to the good ole days when we had family gatherings on weekends? Went on a Sunday drive to visit. Didn't care what day of the week it was or how late we stayed up.

As I prepare to gather together to visit with family and pay my respects to Aunt Marva, I can't help but be jealous of the reunion that she is having too. She'll see many family members including my dad. What a joyous moment! Give Dad a hug and tell him I Love him!
