Faith and Family

The weekend of April 30th my cousins were in town and we all went to the Boise Idaho LDS Temple.   What a great experience for all of us.  It was a beautiful Spring Day and the tulips on the Temple grounds were in full bloom.   Their Mom,  my Aunt Marva is my Dad’s Sister.  I grew up next door to them in Eastern Idaho…   We had a great weekend together.

You can find out more about my beliefs HERE.

"The temple is concerned with things of immortality. It is a bridge between this life and the next. All of the ordinances that take place in the house of the Lord are expressions of our belief in the immortality of the human soul."

Seeing Red

I had a small gathering of Family over Wednesday night for Craft Fest.   We made Valentines wreaths.   I made one at Christmas and decided it would be a fun project for Heart day.    See instructions HERE.    My Cousins, my Sisters  my Daughter and my Daughter in Law came to be creative.   I had limited supply of the wreaths so I only invited a few people.  I don’t like taking inside pictures at night.  The colors are horrid!

My Mom decided to CRASH the party.   I Love It!    It was alot of fun.  We’ll have to do it again soon.

The Fam Damily

Last week my Mom was in town… Quite a few other family members where in town and we all got together at My Aunt Dewe’s house.. (She is my Mom’s twin sister). She is a fabulous hostess! She thrives on having the family over and entertaining… My mom has a large family…. and is seems to be growing by the day….. this gathering was just a few leaves from the family tree!

Proof that Scissorbella is now blonde! She’s cutting my cousin Cyndi’s hair. Cyndi is one of the Banana’s. My Grandma Beth used to call us her bunch of Banana’s because there were 4 of us born the same year . 1962 Me – March, Cyndi – April, Bonnie and Mike – May.

Another Banana! (Bonnie)

My future Son in Law - Don’t tell anyone… its not official… It’s a Secret!!!

Vicki and Fred (Uncle Johnny used to call him Thread when they were teenagers because he was trying to weave his way into the family. It worked!)

Aunt Dewe with Cyndi's daughter Tiffany and her boyfriend.

My cousin Dolores and her handsome sons.

Cousin Nancy and my Sister Sandee.

Newest Member of the family.

Bird Shirt

My Cousin, Carma Jean is a prankster. I've mentioned before that when we get together all we do is talk and giggle so hard that we cry... She sent me this shirt for my birthday! I about died laughing when I opened it. She probably laughed just as hard when she ordered it and had shipped to me!

Cousins and Friends

My cousin Carma Jean and I grew up next door to each other for the first 15 years of my life.

Here we are - 1965

We are not only cousins... We are best friends. We still act crazy and gliggle for hours when we get together. For some reason we thought it was hilarious to take crazy photos of ourselves doing silly things. Here we are Pulling our top lip out. For some strange reason we thought this was really funny!! I was about 16. We even included other friends in these strange behaviors! Julie was a willing participant!

Family

I've known for a couple of weeks that my Aunt Marva wasn't doing very well and would probably not last much longer. I found out that she died early Wednesday morning. I lived next door to her until I was about 15. She was like a second Mama to me. Her daughter Carma Jean and I grew up as best friends. We were inseparable. There was rarely a day we weren't together. Even when one of us was in trouble or grounded we would meet out in the field near the fence and sit for hours and talk. She was on her side of the fence and I was on mine. We played the card game War and talked until one of our Mom's called us in. It almost seems like yesterday. Even though we are grown up and are Grandma's... we still laugh and cry and giggle all night everytime we're together..

Aunt Marva is one of my Dad's older sisters. She babysat us before and after school and summers. She was a soft spoken person but radiated with love. She had a sense of humor and I remember her silly little grin and laugh.

I will be traveling to Eastern Idaho today for her Funeral and will stay until Saturday afternoon.
I am not looking forward to the drive but look forward to seeing family that I don't often get to see. What happened to the good ole days when we had family gatherings on weekends? Went on a Sunday drive to visit. Didn't care what day of the week it was or how late we stayed up.

As I prepare to gather together to visit with family and pay my respects to Aunt Marva, I can't help but be jealous of the reunion that she is having too. She'll see many family members including my dad. What a joyous moment! Give Dad a hug and tell him I Love him!
