December Daily

This is the first year I’m doing  December Daily.   

This is a scrapbooking project that you create a scrapbook page or two for each day in December.

I chose a quick and easy project.  I am using digital templates from a class at Scrapaneers.  The class is Discover December by Kelly Sill.  There are more complicated digital classes available.  A lot of people make their pages out of paper and embellishments.   You can find daily lists for ideas at Pinterest.    I get a daily email with a photo prompt through the class I am taking.

I chose this digital class because I am so busy and don’t have hours to spend every day taking photo’s and putting a page together.  The beauty of using a premade template is that I can change paper and add embellishments if I choose.  What a fun what to remember December and spark a little bit of Christmas Joy.

I went shopping today.  I don’t like to shop.  I have to psych myself  to go..  UGH!    I don’t like dealing with the other shoppers.  Because of that, I usually do most of my shopping on line.  

I had a couple of great coupons about to expire and I really needed a pair of new jeans.   A few weeks ago, my employer started allowing salaried employees to have Friday casual day.   I get to wear jeans to work!   It’s only one day a week but I’ll take that!

As you know,   the new style of jeans are  worn and have the white stitching.   I had a hard time finding a pair that wasn’t frayed or full of holes.   I can’t wear those to work.   I found a pair of long jeans and a pair of Capri's. I love them.

This weeks word -  WHITE

PS…  I also bought a couple of pair of shoes..  It was a successful shopping day.

For the last year I have been focusing on becoming healthier.  I have been focusing on eating clean.  I have been focusing on strength training and getting fit.   I am still focusing on these items, but this year I have added a few more things to the list.

I am focusing on my spirit. I am focusing on love. I am focusing on creativity.   What are you focusing on?

This weeks word is FOCUS.

I’m going to try and make this year’s project 52 theme to be “All About Me”.   Each picture will be something about me; which may include a few selfies. 

This weeks theme is INSIDE.

I took a picture of myself, sitting in my recliner fairly early in the day with the daylight shining in through the window.  This is my favorite time of the day. I sit here and relax, read, study or possibly watch a movie.

The theme for this week is IMPERFECT.    How do you take a picture of that?   My hours are limited to pack my camera around.  It’s dark when I leave for work and it’s dark when I get home.  My daylight hours are usually on weekends.

Today as I got home from the gym, I took off my shoes and was looking at my ugly feet. I really need to get a pedicure.   Winter feet are ugly and imperfect; especially after wearing running shoes and working out. The more I workout and run, the uglier they get.  It’s a price that I have to pay.   As I work on improving my body,  my feet are paying the price.

Time Management

It seems that blogging isn’t quite the thing it used to be.   I used to have the time to read blogs upon blogs every night.  Now I don’t.  I still read blogs.  I just manage my blog reading time.   I used to think I was a time manager but now I wonder about my skills.  My life seems to be full of chaos.  I joined a fitness challenge.  I have a gym Nazi.  I don’t seem to know which way I am going.   I leave the house at 5:45 AM.   I get home after 6 PM  and try to be in bed around 8:30PM to read and wind down.   In those couple of hours at home I run a household, clean, do chores, fix meals etc and try to maintain a relationship with My Handyman.   What happened to my life?  I have a family, Grandkids to enjoy and church callings.    OH boy!  I thought my life would be slowing down at this age.   I also volunteer several hours a month doing photography for those that otherwise aren’t able to have family photo’s.    I need to sit down and regroup; really really bad..   I need to give up some of my stuff.  Discover what is really important.   How do I do that?   What do I give up that I love?    Is all of my crafty and artistic projects really necessary?   I’ve discovered… not so much.  I have hardly done anything crafty the last several months.  Do I miss it?  Yes! I know I will find time in the future.   For now…  I will figure it out eventually.   Time management?  PPPTHHH!!!!!   Just kidding… I’m going to sit down and figure something out.

I shot a senior photo shoot a couple of weeks ago and a wedding.  I still haven’t edited them.

Tomorrow I am off to girls camp with the 12-17 year old girls from church for 4 days.  I am really looking forward to this time.  I need to renew my spirit.  I need to bond with and strengthen friendships.   I need to regroup and just relax and enjoy.

On Top of the World

Monday was my birthday!   Another year older.  Wahoo!   I took the day off work and went on a morning hike with my daughter Ashley.  We hiked to Table Rock which is in the Boise foothills.  The Ridge to Rivers site has a map of all the trails in the Boise Foothills. We went on the Old Penitentiary trail which joins Table Rock trail #15 – strait to the top… 

Most of these pictures were taken with cell phones so the quality isn’t the greatest.

We started in the parking lot behind the Bishop’s House near the Old Idaho Penitentiary and hiked up the hill to the cross at Table Rock.  It took us about and hour to get to the top.  When we started it was 27* out.   Perfect hiking weather. There was a pretty good incline most of the way.

We were about half way up the trail when I took this picture of the city below.

We made it to the top! It was windy and chilly but the site below was oh so pretty!

After we hiked down we stopped and shared a turkey sandwich at Big City then wandered around Whole (paycheck) Foods for awhile.   I then went to my Son Eric’s and visited with the Grandkids for awhile.   What a great birthday indeed!

Just Me

I’ve been busy creating this digital page this evening.  It’s from the kit Today 2.0 over at The Sweete Shoppe.  They’re having a big 7th anniversary sale this weekend.  I did a bunch of things on this page.  I edited the color photo to black and white, added a bunch of layers of embellishing, used a Designer Digitals grunge alphabet brush for some of the text, cut some little strips for the word text, added an acrylic alpha for ‘Just Me’, and some shadowing.  I really need to find more time to do digital pages. I really like the challenge and how they turn out.  This page has 32 layers. Do you digi scrap?

Do You Pin?

I just noticed the other day the amount of followers I have. As of today – 2793 followers. Wow!  So many with the same interests.  Imagine if we all lived in the same town and got together to be creative and have fun!

And I want to find a chair like this.  Not this color, but this style. It would be a prefect little reading chair in my bedroom.
