M4H P52: 24/52

I was out fishing over the holiday weekend.  The Snake River runs fairly wide and smooth through the Owyhee desert.   We stopped near Marsing, Idaho and I took a picture of this fishing boat as it zoomed by.  I added a fun little Topaz Labs edit to it.

M4H P52: 23/52

My flower gardens are filling in nicely.  The peonies are in full bloom (actually their about done.)   My lavender is starting to bloom and it smells so good.  Originally I planted two plants.  Each fall they go to seed and my beds are filling in with more plants.   I took a photo with my 100mm macro lens to get some nice bokeh of this shot.

M4H P52: 14/52

I took my camera out today.  Last year I bought a Canon 100mm macro lens and have used it only a couple of times.   I decided to use it and play around with the settings.   I took a walk down to Indian Creek this morning.   It was such a beautiful day out.   Mother Earth is awakening and coming back to life after her season of sleep.    This busy little bee was gathering pollen on a bright yellow dandylion.  His little legs were covered.  Even weeds can have a certain beauty about them.  The brightness radiates Spring.

Word this week:  Radiate

I live in the desert.  I’ve mentioned this before and I’m sure I’ll mention it again.  So many people don’t realize that Southwest Idaho is the desert.  Yes, we are surrounded by mountains, but the lava rock and sagebrush is closer.  I drove about 3 miles out of town and took a picture facing North East.   That snow capped mountain is where Bogus Basin Ski Resort is located.  At the base of that mountain is our Capitol City, Boise.

It is a vast state that I live in.  We are surrounded by farmland, sagebrush and mountains.

Word for week 13:  Vast

M4H P52: 11/52, 12/52

I am a cheater this week.   I tried to think of a pattern for week 11.  Every time I found something I didn’t have my camera bag with me.    Then week 12 came and the theme was blue.

I was looking out my window Saturday morning and was hoping to see a beautiful Spring day.    As I was peeking through the blinds I thought; what a perfect pattern.    I grabbed my phone and snapped a shot.   And guess what?  The beautiful clear blue sunny sky was showing through in all of it’s glory.

The whole purpose of doing this challenge is to get me out and about with my camera and to be creative.   It seems I have too many other priorities.   We’ll see how the rest of the year goes.   Wish me luck!

I’m a few days behind.   I had a busy week and I had a hard time figuring out what to photograph that is considered soft.   I was sitting at my desk at work and noticed that my African Violet is blooming.    The leaves and flower remind me of velvet.  They are so delicate and fuzzy; Oh and it gives me a soft warm feeling inside to view such beauty.

This picture was taken with my phone camera.

This Winter seems to be going on forever.  It has been cold, foggy, dark, dreary, snowy, wet and rainy.  Yesterday Mr. Sunshine made an appearance.   I was doing a few chores around the house and decided to open the doors and let some of that beautiful warm light inside.  There was sunshine in my soul and it made me feel full of energy.  Oh how it made me feel like twirling around and dancing.

For the last year I have been focusing on becoming healthier.  I have been focusing on eating clean.  I have been focusing on strength training and getting fit.   I am still focusing on these items, but this year I have added a few more things to the list.

I am focusing on my spirit. I am focusing on love. I am focusing on creativity.   What are you focusing on?

This weeks word is FOCUS.

M4H P52: 6/52

We’ve had a fairly dry year.  It can be a tiny bit frustrating watching the news and seeing the massive storms that are covering most of the country.   Here in Idaho we are in a drought.   We have had several years of below snow levels and we run out of water for irrigation mid August.  We’ve had horrible wild fires.  Everything dries up and gets dead and ugly.   We’ve been having community prayers and fasting for moisture.

As a child looking out my window and being able to witness  a scene like this would have been paradise.   As an adult, not so much.  Last night as I looked out my back door, I said a pray of thanks for this blessing.   It’s not quite paradise but it will do for today.

Word this week:  PARADISE

The theme for this week is IMPERFECT.    How do you take a picture of that?   My hours are limited to pack my camera around.  It’s dark when I leave for work and it’s dark when I get home.  My daylight hours are usually on weekends.

Today as I got home from the gym, I took off my shoes and was looking at my ugly feet. I really need to get a pedicure.   Winter feet are ugly and imperfect; especially after wearing running shoes and working out. The more I workout and run, the uglier they get.  It’s a price that I have to pay.   As I work on improving my body,  my feet are paying the price.

Week 35 – Composition

I could have done many things with the theme over at My Four Hens Project52 this week.   Many choices for Composition.  I’ve been busy getting a few things done so that I can go on vacation.  I’m really excited to go to the Oregon Coast.  It has been so smoky here from the Wildfires.   I’ve had allergies pretty bad; bad enough that I haven’t had a voice for 2 days. OH JOY! I'm really looking forward to the fresh air.

I decided to put on my wide angle lens and stand under my big maple tree in the back yard near the truck and look up towards the sky.  This is what I came up with.

Week 33 – Funky

The theme for week 33 for Project52 over at My Four Hens is Funky.   I chose this picture of our Young Woman’s Leader.  During this activity with the Young Women,  we made and modeled dresses made out of newspaper, tissue paper and tape.   It was a really fun night.   It’s kind of fun to be silly and funky on occasion.

Week 32 – Details

Theme for Project52 over at My Four Hens  for week 32 is Details.   This is a shot of some of the details from Nicole and Greg’s wedding.  The colors were fabulous.  I helped put together the center pieces.   What fun it was stacking the limes against the edge of the jar and then filling with crystal pebbles.  The room was pretty dark and hard for picture taking cut I got some great shots.  Here is the end result.

Week 31 - Wildcard

I’m catching up on my Project52 posts over at My Four Hens.  The theme for week 31 is wildcard; meaning I can choose anything I want.   I choose to share the baby hummingbirds that were nesting in my tree.  It seemed to take forever for them to hatch. The egg shells were about the size of a jelly bean.  There were three babies.  The nest is about the size of a golf ball.  They no longer sit in the nest but I see them often buzzing around the back yard and getting a drink out of the feeder. I hope they come back next spring and nest again. I'm going to plant more colorful flowers to attract them.

Week 30 – Euphoria

My Handyman and I went on a road trip to Minnesota the first week of July.   One of the destinations was in Fargo, ND for  his Niece’s wedding.   Week 30 project52 theme over at My Four Hens is Euphoria.  I know that Nicole and Greg were experiencing Euphoria that afternoon.  They make a beautiful couple.

Week 29 – Me

I was playing around with my Motorola RAZR a few days ago and snapped this photo with my Camera then edited it with the Be Funky Ap and posted to Instagram.

I didn’t get a chance to take any other photo’s so this is the photo I submitted for Project 52 over at My Four Hens.

This is a picture showing off my new glasses.  I only wear them in the evenings when my eyes are tired and I can’t stand wearing my contacts anymore.

Week 28 – Time

I spent time with my Mom last weekend.  We went to The Lavender Festival at a little local farm.  They had a few vendors showing off their handmade crafts and several booths with products made out of the lavender, include foods.

This is for Project52 over at My Four Hens.

This little guy was buzzing around with 100’s of his friends spending his time among the pretty flowers and I was spending time with my Mom.

Week 27 - Addicting

The theme over at Project52 for week 27 is something I am obsessed with or find addicting.    I decided to take a picture of paper.   I love designer paper.   There are so many pretty patterns and colors.   I use it for all of my paper crafting projects.  Almost all of the paper that I purchase is 6x6 unless I get it from Close To My Heart then it comes in 12x12 kits.

Hopefully I’ll make a couple of projects this week to share.  I went on a road trip to North Dakota/Minnesota last week.   We left Wednesday and drove 9-12 hours a day and arrived in Fargo Friday afternoon.   Thursday I woke up and could hardly walk.   I’ve never had back problems but my lower back (Sciatic) was really bad.   I tried everything to help with the pain.  (Nothing like traveling and being miserable.)   Saturday morning I bought some pain patches and Aleve and that helped, a little.    After Flying and sitting on the Airplane for several hours I finally made it home.   Hopefully a couple of visits to the Chiropractor will help.      Enjoy your week!

Week 26 – Friendship

This week’s theme for Project52 over at My Four Hens, is – Friendship.    This evening my sister had a BBQ and I grabbed my camera as the girls were having fun jumping on the trampoline.

This is my Niece Emily and her friend striking a pose.
