A Winter’s Walk

A couple of weekends ago, when the sun had burnt through the fog and the ugly inversion, I bundled up and took a walk along the little greenbelt in Kuna that runs along Indian Creek.   I grabbed my camera and took a few shots. Most of the creek was frozen over with a few puddles here and there.

The rope hanging silently, waiting for the summer laughter of the swimming hole.

Sorry the images aren’t super clear.  We’ve had dreary foggy weather and not very good lighting for taking photo’s.

This is the view out of my window.  The temperature has been in the single digits and we’ve had snow on the ground for over a week.  I know it’s not as bad as a few other states, but winter hit us early.  We barely had a fall season.

Where is Spring

Mother Nature surprised us with a couple of really nice 60* days last week; then the rain came back.    I know. I know!   We need the moisture, and I am thankful for it.    When the sun comes out and warms up the air, I want to dig in the dirt and walk barefoot in the grass.  That won’t be happening for a few more weeks so I’ll settle for a few walks in between rain storms when the sun pokes out.

Here are a few more pictures that I took while on my walk along Indian Creek.   As you can see,   there is a tiny bit of green peeking through amongst the dead.

I love Idaho.  It has so many beautiful qualities about it, and they’re only a few steps from my front door.

Enjoy!

M4H P52: 6/52

We’ve had a fairly dry year.  It can be a tiny bit frustrating watching the news and seeing the massive storms that are covering most of the country.   Here in Idaho we are in a drought.   We have had several years of below snow levels and we run out of water for irrigation mid August.  We’ve had horrible wild fires.  Everything dries up and gets dead and ugly.   We’ve been having community prayers and fasting for moisture.

As a child looking out my window and being able to witness  a scene like this would have been paradise.   As an adult, not so much.  Last night as I looked out my back door, I said a pray of thanks for this blessing.   It’s not quite paradise but it will do for today.

Word this week:  PARADISE

paradise

Mr. Frost

We have had a cold and foggy Winter.   The fog won’t let Mr. Sunshine peek through it, so it makes for a dark and dreary day.    It has been really thick at my end of the valley.   Some mornings I can barely see the lines on the road as I’m driving to work in the wee hours of the morning.  We have had fog for about 5 days.  I’m getting tired of it.

One thing about the fog, and the cold weather; it covers everything with glittery white frost.   It is quite beautiful when a hint of sunshine hits it.  I was able to take a couple of pictures of my frost covered trees.

Can’t you just imagine all of the little frost fairies dancing around with their magic wands covering the world with beauty?
