The Paradoxical Commandments
by Dr. Kent M. Keith

People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered.
Love them anyway.

If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
Do good anyway.

If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.

The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.

Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.

The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds.
Think big anyway.

People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs.
Fight for a few underdogs anyway.

What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.

People really need help but may attack you if you do help them.
Help people anyway.

Give the world the best you have and you’ll get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you have anyway.

Simplify!

Up and Running

I've taken several classes from Jessica Sprague. Sunday I created a few pages from her Up and Running class. Simple and basic layouts. Its nice to be simple at times. I think that's going to be my word for 2010. SIMPLIFY

A Few Things

These are a few things I finished up  and wasn't able to share with you before the Major event....

My craft table still looks like this and I'm hoping to get it cleaned up soon...

I made a custom ornament for a friend. I found a wood ornament at the craft store. Inked the edges with antique photo, attached and sanded some Christmas paper then added some embellishments. The center text was created using PSE7 then printed on HP presentation paper.

Bookmarks for my nieces. They love to read!! I too love to read. I may have to make one for myself. (Misc digital supplies. PSE7. Stickles, HP presentation paper. Coated Cardstock. Ribbon. Eyelets.)

Last minute Christmas cards.

A Blog Interuption

I preposted the last several days blogs...   And I've been so busy I haven't  had time to update everyone on the the Major Event that has happened in my life.     Through the power of prayer and God's Grace, our family witnessed a miracle this week.   My 27 year old son, Eric is a construction worker and has been working a couple hours North in the Mountains of Idaho on a large vacation home.   Tuesday morning at around 9:30 AM the unimaginable happened.    He was climbing up a ladder, slipped, the nail gun hit a step, which caused his hand to slip up to the trigger and the pressure of the bump against his chest cause the nail gun to shoot a 16 penny ring shank nail (3 1/4 inches)  into his chest.   He called my daughter in law to tell her the news and that he was being transported to the McCall hospital.  The original plan was for him to be sent via Life Flight to a local Boise Hospital where the Heart Trauma Center is located.   The doctors didn't know for sure if the nail was just inside the chest wall or in his heart.   Because of bad Winter weather, the helicopter was not able to leave McCall.  They had to schedule a plane to leave Boise, fly to McCall to get him, then back to Boise.   It took 5 hours from the time of  the accident for him to arrive in Boise.  He was in surgery within about 5 minutes of arrival.  The surgeons didn't know for sure what to expect but they knew they didn't have any time to waste taking all kinds of tests.  They cracked his chest open and soon found out that the nail went through two chambers of his heart.    He should not have survived the impact of the nail! let alone all the other delays.  They were able to remove the nail, and stitch up his heart.   Life has been surreal.   Time has stopped.   A miracle happened!  God is good!   According to the surgeon, Eric survived a FATAL accident.  It's amazing that the day after this Trauma,   He is up and walking and still wants to eat everything in sight.     He still has a small hole between the two chambers which the doctor is pretty sure will heal up on it's own.  If not,  they'll go through his groin and patch it.   I want to thank all of my family and friends for all of your love and support.  I truly believe in the power of prayer.   God has big plans for him!   We're hoping he'll be able to go home on Christmas day.    For a little more info and pictures...  Read my daughter in law Jenn's blog HERE  and please continue to pray for his recovery.   Here is a news video..

And the Stocking were hung...

Remember the sneak peak that I showed you the other day. I painted four of these signs. Two were stained and one painted Country Red with a little stain over it..
They're 42 inches wide and have pegs for hanging stocking on them..

Rustic Snowflakes

Do you like decorating with a Rustic Christmas theme? Or with a bright and shiny contemporary theme?

I prefer more of the country theme with just a tiny bit of bling!

I used a vintage image for this card. I have a disc with thousands of vintage images. I just resize then print on a nice heavy white cardstock. Doesn't it look awesome with that red gingham ribbon?

This is my last PinkCat Studio image I'm going to share with you. (I shared the girl a few days ago.)

DewFrost

Memory Box makes the pretties papers. I'm using Dewfrost for today's projects.
Read more about Frost HERE.
When I think about frosty cold air, I think about Hot Chocolate or a nice Skinny vanilla latte.

And I think about Polar Bears. I have the entire Planet Earth movies on DVD. These nature films fascinate me. Read more HERE.

A Little Birdie Told me...

This time of year we don't see very many birds hanging around. Food is pretty sparse now that snow is covering everything and the temps are dipping so low. Some people like to put out bird feeders to attract birds in the winter. A few years ago I had a bird feeder hanging from our big maple tree. It did attract alot of birds. They were fun to watch as they fluttered and fought over who's turn it was to eat next. I probably could have had several more feeders and it wouldn't have been enough. Anyway... The birds drove Tanner (the dog) NUTS! He wanted them in a real bad way! I finally took it down.... Read HERE on how to attract birds in Winter.
