Super!

The other night I tried taking a few picture of the SUPER MOON.  Well I did more than try.   I set up my tripod and took several at different Apertures, ISO’s and Shutter Speeds.   Depending on the setting the moon was either too bright or too dark.  If I wanted any moon detail I couldn’t see any of the tree’s.  My zoom lens is only 55-250 which really doesn’t zoom enough for the moon and the dark, which makes the pictures pretty grainy.  Anyway..  It looks just like any other full moon to me…  It was a beautiful calm clear evening though.

The biggest excitement of the evening was that I broke my toe.  I had all of my camera gear on the floor putting it away and as I was sitting down in my old spiky legged chair,  it scooted a little and landed right on my toe.   Crunch!    Stranger things have happened during a full moon.

Accomplish

One of my coworkers that I’ve know for many many years went back to college several years ago.  It’s been a long journey for her.  Sunday she will get her Executive Masters Degree.   All while being a Mother, working full time and being the Project Director at work.    Whew!   It makes me tired thinking about it.

I prefer making pretty frilly and a little bit distressed cards. This one uses PTI – Year of the Flower – Gladiolus. I added a touch of color with my Copic Markers.

I adore this paper pack with the soft colors.  Its Paris and Co. by My Minds Eye.

I cut a rectangle piece of card stock.  After stamping the sentiment I used my corner rounder on one end and snipped the tails with my scissors on the other end then added a little distress ink.

Products used:   My Minds Eye – Paris & Co.  Sewing Tool.   CTMH – Pin.  Silk ribbon. Chipboard heart.  Adirondack paint dauber – Shell pink.  Button. Twine.  Copic markers.  PTI – Year of flowers – Gladiolus. Distress ink – vintage photo.

Week 18 – Happy

Wow!  It’s May and we’re into week 17 of Twenty Twelve already.    This weeks theme for Project52 over at My Four Hens is   HAPPY.

I had the pleasure of watching my Grandkids for a couple of hours yesterday.  Kendall  isn’t quite walking on her own yet , but she walks around the furniture.  She sure gets around quick.   Carter was eating some of the cheesy orange fish crackers and Kendall wanted some.   It sure doesn’t take much to make her happy.

Here is one of Carter enjoying his juice.

Together

I finished up my first Silhouette class over at Jessica Sprague last week. I’ve had my Silhouette for over a year but this basic class was great for me.  I learned a lot of shortcuts that will save me time.   You know how much I love saving time!

I finally got this fun little mini album put together.  It started out looking like this after cutting out all of the files with my Silhouette.

I glued and bound all of the pages together with an accordion sheet that I learned how to draw myself and cut out.   I love that I can now create my own SVG files!

I  converted a bunch of pictures to black and white using my Photoshop Elements 10 program then printed them on HP presentation paper.   It’s great to use for this type of mini album.

Here is the finished product.  The pictures are of My Son and his Family.   You know…. the Grands I am always talking about.

The great thing about the Silhouette is that you use Fonts from your own collection.

Products used:   Silhouette SD, CTMH -  Breeze, Autumn Terracotta, Colonial White, Chocolate.  Vintage Photo distress ink. Seam binding ribbon. Lace. Rhinestones. Pigma Pen.  SU papers. Cosmo Cricket papers.  Custom printed papers. Twine. Metal Accents.

I’ve signed up and about to take a more advanced class.  Oh The Places You’ll Go. I hope I learn as much from it as I did the first one!.

Week 17 – White

The theme for this weeks Project 52 challenge over at My Four Hens is WHITE…
White is not an easy theme.   Sure there are a lot of white things everywhere but what is good to take a photo of?     The white blooming tree’s have pretty much stopped after all of the rain we had this week.    Friday morning there was fresh white snow on the foothills but I didn’t have my camera.   Today I was out power shopping hitting all the fabulous sales and using my coupons.   I bought myself a new pair of sunglasses.
Later in the afternoon I realized I could take a picture of them!    Of course I was still out and about and without my camera again.    I snapped the picture with my phone using Instagram.    Hello Sunshine!

Homemade Washi Tape

Washi tape  is the craze in paper crafting.  For some reason I keep calling it Wasabi tape and probably won’t give that up anytime in the near future.  A couple of weeks ago for my Scrap*Life*Journal class our assignment was to make some homemade washi tape.   I finally bought a roll of masking tape and stamped away.   Nothing too fancy. The ink is slick and it is very easy to smear. I used craft inks and let them dry overnight before attaching them to my page.

I stamped some random flower images and a couple of butterflies.  I spritzed a couple of them with Glimmer mist and water colored a couple then cut them out.

Products used:   Cosmo Cricket Cs.  Masking tape.  SU craft inks. Distress ink – vintage photo.  Zig pen.  Glimmer mist. Blending pen.   Robins Nest Baubles. CTMH – Sorbet, Cranberry Red, Tulip, Creme Brulee.  C1494 Card Word Puzzle.
