Things My Father Said

This has been a rough couple of weeks for Family.  My FIL had cancer and it was hard seeing My Handyman go through the rough times.  Wilt was blessed to be able to spend some time with his Dad in Minnesota and be there with his family when he passed.  Sympathy cards are hard to make but needed.   I remember when I lost my Dad.  It helped so much with the healing to hear from friends and family.

I used my new die cut from My Favorite Things.  Rolled Flower.  The flowers are pretty small.  I love the die cut but I think I prefer hand cutting them and making the larger paper roses.

Products used:  CTMH – Cranberry Red, Creme Brulee. Verve – Amazing Grace. MFT – Die-namics – Rolled flower.  Buttons. Cosmo Cricket. Baubles. Distress ink – aged mahogany. Ribbon.

Be Mine

I created this digi page shortly after valentines day.

Photobucket

I decided to trim it and turn it into a hybrid 12x12 page. I cut the picture and printed on my HP premium presentation paper. I used papers from CTMH My Reflections - Notebook. I embellished with some Maya Roads scroll chipboard, painted with Tim Holtz Distressed crackle paint, A Dimensional Elements heart covered with pink chunky glitter, some felt flowers and a sheet of making memories Noteworthy.

Photobucket

Craft Warehouse has their 12x12 scrappage frames on sale right now so I framed this and will take it to work to hang in my work space. The frames have kind of a spring attachment so it works well with embellished pages.

Since its framed, my camera flash was glaring on the glass. I tried taking one without flash. Neither picture turned out very well... It really does look nice.

Photobucket

I love the ease of digital.. but I love the look of the real thing, too. and I have alot of product that I need to use up. I can't make cards fast enough. I'll be making more hybrid projects in the future.

I posted previously that I was going to make a few digital Christmas cards. I took several pictures of My Handyman and I, holding my arm out as far as I could. Well.. the Handyman can get impatient! (NO!) So this is as good as it gets. Ain't nothing but the real thing... Baby!

PS. I painted the snowman in the background.

When You Say Nothing

One of my all time favorite songs is 'When you Say Nothing' by Alison Krauss
This week Scrapping To The Music is featuring this song for their weekly challenge.

I created the digital page below using a picture from our 2004 road trip to Minnesota. We visited Mount Rushmore on our way. I used Summers End digital kit from The Sweet Shoppe.
Fonts are: Pea walker and soulmission.

When you Say Nothing at All
It’s amazing how you can speak right to my heart
Without saying a word you can light up the dark
Try as I may I could never explain
What I hear when you don’t say a thing
The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There’s a truth in your eyes sayin’ you’ll never leave me
The touch of your hand says you’ll catch me if ever I fall
You say it best when you say nothing at all
All day long I can hear people talking out loud
But when you hold me near, you drown out the crowd
Old mr. webster could never define
What’s being said between your heart and mine
The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There’s a truth in your eyes sayin’ you’ll never leave me
The touch of your hand says you’ll catch me if ever I fall
You say it best when you say nothing at all
The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There’s a truth in your eyes sayin’ you’ll never leave me
The touch of your hand says you’ll catch me if ever I fall
You say it best when you say nothing at all
Here is another vesion by Ronan Keating
Karma... feel your heart when you smile......

More camping

I took several pictures while we were at Brownlee. The reservoir was about 25 feet low. You can tell by the water line along the edge. There is a railroad that runs freight across the river. My Handyman is a flat lander from Minnesota. He is amazed that the free range cattle walk along the hillside. Every time we see them he's afraid they're going to tip over and roll down the hill. I about die laughing hearing him talk about it. There were Whistle Pigs running everywhere! I zoomed in and snapped one. Sunflowers were blooming everywhere.

Crappie

Camping and fishing was a huge success.. Once we got the camper unhitched and level and was all settled in, My Handyman and I started relaxing. We went to Brownlee Reservoir and stayed at Farewell Bend State Park. Gotta love full hook-ups! Especially when you're in the desert and the weekend was around 100 degree's every day! It was HOT HOT HOT!!! We cussed under our breath; but once we hit the river every afternoon and was sitting in the shade, a cooler full of water, and a slight breeze was blowing; with our poles in the water we were just fine. I caught a 22 inch Catfish and a 16 inch Bass. Late afternoon the Crappie started biting. Every cast we were catching something, nearly 100 fish each day. We were having so much fun! We kept only the large ones. A few were over 2 pounds. It was a full moon so we were able to see the bobber until about 10 pm. I slept like a baby every night.. Much better than sitting in the cubicle each day or doing chores at home! We're planning a fish fry over the weekend.

My Funny Valentine

I went to the beauty supply store with Scissorbella a couple of weeks ago and was looking at the new Valentines collection of OPI (nail polish) The instant I picked it up I knew I had to have it.Photobucket'Met on the Internet'. What a perfect color to celebrate the day! I met My Handyman "Wilt" on the internet about 12 years ago. Back when AOL was new and you had to pay by the hour. I heard about chat rooms from a friend and decided to check them out. Thirty Something seemed to be the popular place to be. I ventured out and into the "Outdoors" room. People were discussing, fishing, hunting, camping etc. Stuff I've always loved. One late weekend night , I received an IM (instant message) from "Izzyloco". I thought to myself, "Who the heck is this stranger talking to me?" ; Especially if he questions his own sanity. We chatted a couple of times a week. I eventually called him DR Bill because he was always giving me advice on my kids, ex, etc. We eventually started talking on the phone and after a year decided we should meet. He flew to Idaho, I flew to Minnesota. He eventually decided to leave his job, his family, his entire life and onto a new adventure in Idaho. We dated for just over a year then decided to build a house together. We lived together 6 years before getting married; mainly because of my 3 teenagers, taxes, child support, etc. We celebrate our 4 year anniversary in April. We've had our differences and challenges, but I love him and know he loves me. Happy Birthday to My Handyman!!!!!

My Handyman and I like to go fishing. This is a digital page I created using Photoshop Elements. We go catfishing in the Snake River at Brownlee Reservoir which is the entrance to Hells Canyon between Oregon and Idaho

I'm looking forward to the warm weather so that I can get my hands on the rod again and catch a wopper! We take the trailer and go camping in the desert for a few days! Love it!

Family

I am Thankful for my in-laws. They all live in Minnesota which seems like it's across the universe! We only see them every couple of years which is really hard for Wilt; especially this time of the year.

When It Rains

When it Rains..... It pours!!!
I had the air conditioner repairman here yesterday. We think there may be a Freon (how do you spell that??) leak because we had to have our air conditioner charged last year, and again this year. HHMMM. The guy put a dye into it and came back yesterday. Nothing showed up. He checked all the lines. Nothing. I guess for now its working, which is a good thing, since it got up to 107 today! 20 degrees above normal....
I guess another waiting game.

Ashley (my daughter's) 4 runner over heated on Tuesday. I had to put antifreeze into it. I wouldn't let her drive it!! By Wednesday night, almost all had leaked out. I refilled it Thursday morning. I drove down to the local auto repair and told him I suspected either the water pump or radiator. He had it all day Thursday. He ran the engine for an hour, drove it around town.. and nothing. No leaks. WHAT??? no way!! its all over the road in front of our house where it leaked out Tuesday and Wednesday!! HHMMMM . This morning he noticed some bolts loose that hold the thermistat to the water pump so he tightened them.. He told me to have her watch it!
I guess another waiting game.

My husband found out last week that his employer is going to lay off probably about 25% of their people. They are the largest employer in the valley. Most of their profits are coming out of their overseas plants and they plan on outsourcing. Do we want to move to Italy or Japan?? NO WAY!!! He's an engineer - Manager.. but pretty scared that he'll be one of the many layed off. As of today... they're all still waiting. We will be working on resume's this weekend. This is riduculous!!!
I guess another waiting game!!!!!

Scrapbook pages

Its a very hot day today! I dont like the almost 100 degree's. Its supposed to be 103 for the 4th of July! That is way too hot to be outside having picnics and fun! I am having a 9x9 scrapbook workshop on the 28th of July so I decided to make some more samples to share with the girls. I made 20 pages this morning. I am really getting hooked on the 9x9 size. I think its so much easier because there is less page to decorate.

Check out my Close To My Heart website for pictures (see favorites)

Prime Rib is on sale today. Wilt is trying out our new rotisseire on the new grill we bought a couple of weeks ago. Its going to be fabulous!!!
