Friends Near and Far

Awhile back… a bloggie friend of mine, Erin, sent me a message that she may be heading to Boise and wanted to meet up.   Way cool!   Her husband had some business to take care of and she would probably tag along.   We’ve read each other’s blogs for a few years, and  She is quite crafty.   Erin crafts over at Inky Smiles and she helps her husband make the fabulous ink stacks like the one in my craft room.  You can read more about them at her Stamper’s Storage site.

We met down at the Capitol City Market Saturday morning and drooled over all kinds of fun stuff.  Boise has a large refugee population from Africa, Bosnia and a few other places.  There are some big community gardens that these families take care of, then sell fresh produce at the market.  They really rely on donations to get the gardens going.

Three or four streets are shut down every Saturday morning from 9:30 – 1:30 right in the heart of the city.

We could get in so much trouble if we lived near each other!   It was a great day!

Enjoy!

MIA

If for some reason you get about a months worth of blog posts this evening..  When I posted my newest post…(The Spirit of Summer). ..suddenly I was missing posts back to mid July.   What?  Where did they go???   I looked everywhere.  They were no longer in my Windows Live Writer file either.    Who knows what I did??

Luckily….   I use Carbonite..  which is a wonderful on-line backup program.   Every night my PC is backed up to their site.

I found the backed up files and restored them all, then sent them as drafts again to blogger.    It’s really weird because once I posted them, they posted to the correct days and still have all the comments.    WHEW!   My day is complete!

Happiness is…

What makes you happy?   Can you think of one thing to do every day to make yourself happy?    We all know what makes me happy…   My Faith, My Family, My Friends,  My Card Making, My Painting…. and on and on the list goes..    I really enjoy having a nice quiet evening in bed just reading a good book.    I read quite a bit, but not enough lately.   I’ve been trying to get through all of the Harry Potter books again….  It’s been a long time since I’ve read them.   Book 5 took forever, at about 3 pages a day.. well… maybe a few more than that on some days.   I’m going to try and read Book 6 a little faster.

I made this card for a blog Friend.   She wanted one to send to a friend..  Kelly…  You should be getting this any day now.

How do you like the pretty little crocheted butterfly in the middle?   I bought them on ETSY last year..   I make flowers but haven’t tried the butterflies yet.

Products used:

Just Right – Kaleidoscope. SU papers. SU punch. Distress ink – Faded jeans. Pink Hedge Hog – platinum baubles. Antique brads – SU.  Hand crocheted butterfly. Seam binding ribbon. Nestabilities.

Remember this song?

Happiness is…..  from You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown

HAPPINESS IS FINDING A PENCIL.
KNOWING A SECRET
TELLING THE TIME.
HAPPINESS IS LEARNING TO WHISTLE.
TYING YOUR SHOE FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME.
HAPPINESS IS PLAYING THE DRUM IN YOUR OWN SCHOOL BAND.
AND HAPPINESS IS WALKING HAND IN HAND.
HAPPINESS IS TWO KINDS OF ICE CREAM.
PIZZA WITH SAUSAGE
CLIMBING A TREE.
HAPPINESS IS FIVE DIFFERENT CRAYONS.
CATCHING A FIREFLY.
SETTING HIM FREE.
HAPPINESS IS BEING ALONE EVERY NOW AND THEN.
AND HAPPINESS IS COMING HOME AGAIN.
HAPPINESS IS MORNING AND EVENING,
DAY TIME AND NIGHT TIME TOO.
FOR HAPPINESS IS ANYONE AND ANYTHING AT ALL
THAT'S LOVED BY YOU.
HAPPINESS IS HAVING A SISTER.
SHARING A SANDWICH.
GETTING ALONG.
HAPPINESS IS SINGING TOGETHER WHEN DAY IS THROUGH,
AND HAPPINESS IS THOSE WHO SING WITH YOU.
HAPPINESS IS MORNING AND EVENING,
DAYTIME AND NIGHTTIME TOO.
FOR HAPPINESS IS ANYONE AND ANYTHING AT ALL
THAT'S LOVED BY YOU.

Turn off the music above and enjoy!

The Weekend

My Grandson spent the night Thursday.. We played and read every book that he could find about 100 times. We had a lot of fun! He’s such a silly boy! During his nap I gathered a few things for our neighborhood annual yard sale. I found more than I planned. So….. This is what I’m doing today!!! Hopefully making a little moolah!!

I haven’t been a very good blogger lately. It seems with the nicer weather I’m out and about more and not at my computer. I ordered a new desk for my craft room and when I finally received it, it was damaged so I had to return it. I don’t have a table set up to make any cards.. and I have several I need to make next week. I’ll have to bring in one of my folding tables for awhile.

Have a fabulous weekend!!

Enjoy!

One Note

Do you have One Note? It's a MS Office product. You can do alot of things with it! It is a great organizational tool! Some of the notebooks I've created are. Cards. Digi Scrap pages. Scrapbook ideas. Art ideas. Templates, etc.. Inside each notebook there are tabs.

Picture a 5 subject notebook you buy for school. Each subject has a new tab.

So for my Digi Scrap notebook; I've created a new tab for each Digital Company I buy from. And under each company I have a tab for each kit. I take a screen shot example and attach it to the notebook. This is a quick reference for me so that I'm not clicking through a ton of files on my hard drive trying to find something.

Do you know how to take a screenshot and add it to your blog? Open the page you want to take a picture of. Hold down your Alt key the same time as your Print screen button. Open up your photo editing program. Mine is PSE7. Click on the edit tab.

Photobucket

On the top tool bar, click on File, then New, then click on Image from Clipboard. Adjust your image as desired, then save as... Name it and change to JPG.

Now you have an image you can add to your blog. Isn't that easy?

Signature

Like my new signature? I had Nina do it for me. I hope you're all having a fabulous weekend. I'm having family over today for a BBQ. It will be nice to sit around and visit. With our busy lives and different schedules it's not easy to get everyone together. ... Did you hang your flag and have you thanked a veteran yet? What about flowers for loved ones that are no longer with us? I went to the cemetery yesterday and put flowers on my Granddaughter, Cailin's grave. It would have been her 7th birthday.

Have a fabulous weekend!!

Special Olympics

This year, starting in February, the Special Olympics are being held in Idaho. I read a post this morning of a young Boise couple that are volunteering their time to be Delegation Liaisons. Courtney is trying to get lapel pins from all over the country to give to the delegates. I was reading Scissorbella's friend Brandy's blog and see that Courtney is one of Brandy's friends.. HHmm.... wonder if she knows Scissorbella? any way.. Read her post HERE to find out more about the Special Olympics and more about the Pins she is trying to collect. (Turn off music player at the bottom of my blog to watch video)

Allegiance

My Mama has a blog. And when she decides to post something it is usually pretty amazing.
Here are a few of her words.....

"I'm in love with the thought that maybe, just maybe the people of this nation and the whole world are beginning a spiritual shift that is bringing the realization that we are one people who, like the flowers of the fields, have many colors, sizes, shapes and needs. Alone, we are unique and beautiful in our own way; gathering together, if we stand back and look with open eyes, we will see the exquisite beauty this blending can create."
