New Cards

My daughter Ash has this really cute shirt that I thought would make a great card. The print is alot like the Stampin Up set Artfully Asian. I used the CTMH colors Chocolate Brown, Indian Corn Blue, Olive, Gold Rush and Autumn Terra Cotta to create B&T paper to match the shirt. I then used a blender pen to paint the fall leaves. I cut them out and mounted on the terracotta cs.

IT HAPPENED!!!!

Today Eric and Jenn came to my work and picked up the baby quilt that I made for them. They loved it! I showed off the 9 month preg belly to my coworkers. She looked like she hasn't dropped at all. She said she felt like she would be pregnant forever. She had the opportunity to have her membranes scratched but chose not to because Eric wasn't at the appointment with her yesterday. The doctor said no change. Still dilated to a 1. The doctor told her he would do it next week if she wants. Her due date is Monday the 17th. About 30 minutes ago (6:30pm) she called me and told me her water broke. My son is a jokester and has called me the last couple of weeks so I said. Did Eric put you up to this? You're kidding right? She said "Would I joke about something like this???"
After visiting me at work they went to eat and her lower back was starting to hurt a little bit. Eric told her maybe she's going to start labor and she better eat because it could be a long time before she'll be able to eat again. They went to Home Depot after and were walking around looking at a few things and she said she felt like maybe she pee'd a little bit. She told Eric to see if he could see anything. She said he got down on his hands and knee's to look. Everyone in the store was looking at him. She said to him. "What are you doing? Get off of your knees! Stand up! " (I about died laughing when she told me that) She went into the bathroom to look and there was just a little spot in her panties. They drove home and she did a few things around the house. Her mom has been out of town and just flew in this afternoon so she called her to update her on everything. Her mom told her she probably did just pee a little bit. As soon as she hung up the phone her water broke. It was like a damn and gushed out full force. Thank goodness she was at home. I asked her where Eric was. She said that he was freaking out and outside mowing the lawn! I told her he's just burning some nervous energy. They're heading down to the hospital soon and will keep me updated. So.... It wont be long before baby Carter will be making his appearance in this world! Love Grandma!

Amazing!!

I did it! I made my very first sewn quilt. I made tied quilts for my kids when they were babies, but let me tell ya! This was an adventure! Actually I was surpised how easy it was. The worst part was cutting out all of the squares. 156 in all! (including the batting!) whew! I'm taking it over to Eric and Jenn tomorrow. The count down is on! only 5 days until due date!! One side is all red with banana's, the front side is the ragged side. The monkey print is a real pretty green; about the color of Sweet leaf if you know CTMH products.

What Was I Thinking???

Last weekend Eric and Jenn came over for a BBQ - we were talking about all the stuff they've received for Carter and what they still need. Eric was saying that nobody gave them a homemade quilt/baby blanket. :( He remembers his as a child and how much he loved it and he thinks Carter will be deprived! :(
I ended up going to the fabric store and found the cutest sock monkey fabric! The sales clerk explained to me how to make a rag quilt and how easy it would be to make. I gave in and bought everything to make one. You've got to understand... I DON'T SEW!! I hem pants and mend. That is about it, unlike my mom and sisters that can sew any and everything!!! What am I thinking?? It sounds easy.. We'll see! I spent the last couple of hours cutting all of the 9x9 squares. Whew! that much is done!! The front will be the green and brown squares. The back will be the red with banana's. I like different, as you can tell. I didn't want it to be the usual pastel blues. This will definitely be an adventure!! Wonder how long it will take me?? I'll post the finished product when I'm done. The baby is due in 9 days!!
Click on the Picture and you can see the detail of the fabric a little better.

I used CTMH X5802 - Creative Basics - Holiday B&T, Z1290 - Sparkles, D1226 - Magical Season (October SOTM), 1301- Bamboo CS, 1272 - Cranberry CS, and Yellow Stickles I bought a couple of days ago at my LSS.
