Springtime Events

My Granddaughter turned 4 last week.   The kids had a lot of fun at her party.   

What could be more fun than a mouth full of candy and playing in the water fountain?

Possibly blowing giant bubbles?

Carter has started playing baseball.  It sure is fun watching seven year olds play.

                       

 

There is always silliness!!

My friend Melissa sews the cutest outfits.   Her business is Bella Grace Creations.  She made this cute little Foxy Roxy skirt and top for me to give Kendall.  You can also find her  HERE on Facebook.

I learned a fun new stamping technique thanks to another CTMH consultant.  It looks like bokeh.   I will use as a card background.  I haven’t decided what to add to it yet. I love to learn new things!

I hope you’re enjoying your Spring.  I’m looking forward to my Southern California beach adventure to Coronado Island in a couple of weeks.   I better try and get a little sun before then.

Pillow Talk

I don’t think I’ve shared this project with you.    I am not a sewer.   I can do basic sewing, hem pants etc.   I occasionally sew on my handmade cards.    I did make a basic rag quilt for each of my grandchildren.  You can view them HERE and HERE. They turned out pretty good.  I’ve decided I want to start making a few things for my home.   I know!   One more thing to add to my many lists of projects.  I guess the main goal I have is to make a few quilts.   I am obsessed and love homemade quilts!

A couple of months ago, I purchased a new sewing machine.  I purchased my old one back in the early 80’s and used it to make a few clothes for my children when they were young.   It has mended quite a few things.  It basically has two stitches.  Straight and zigzag.   Very basic. The new one is a little fancier but I wasn’t about the spend $4000 for the new Bernina that I continue to drool over.    Maybe some day one will show up on my door step.  LOL!

My first project was basic envelope pillow covers for my couch.    I probably should have taken pictures of the process but that didn’t happen.   The pillows are made out of the same fabric as the couch.   I really wanted to add a little color to the room.  My favorite colors are shades of red and green. It was hard to find fabric in these colors that didn't look like Christmas.    I went to the Home Fabrics store and found this fabric.  It is a heavier drapery type of fabric.  I love it!

 

They are very basic and easy, I found a few ideas from Pinterest before making them. If you want to know the basic idea, you can look  HERE.    I love Pinterest.   I have so many fun sewing projects pinned that I can’t quite figure out what to do next.   I was thinking maybe something like these cute towels for the holidays.

Maybe I can squeeze them in between all of my Photography, Card Making, Digital Scrapbooking, Art Journaling and Christmas Painting projects.    Speaking of Christmas painting…. It’s that season and I have several orders for projects so I really need to get busy.    You know I’ll be sharing some of them in the future.

Moda

I’ve been working on a quilt for my new Granddaughter for several weeks.  I found this fabulous Moda fabric at Craft Warehouse.   Fabric is not cheap..  It was 8.99 a yard  and I bought 7 yards,  plus thread and Flannel to line it with.  I love the bright colors!

I am not much of a seamstress.   I bought my Singer sewing machine back in the early 1980’s and paid $75 for it brand spankin new.    It only has 5 stitches.   Very basic..  I sewed basic clothes for my kids when they were toddlers, hemmed pants and mended clothes with it.  I’ve even stitched on my cards with it.  One of these days I would like to get a new machine and make some more quilts.  Just what I need!  Another addiction!

One more washing to soften it up, then I’ll snip all of the loose thread and it’s ready for her arrival…  Just under two weeks!   I hope she likes it.

My old Singer

I've had my sewing machine since my kids were toddlers. I've never been much of a seamstress. UGH! I hate it! I did sew a few simple things for the kids when they were little but mostly its been used for mending things. If you were reading my blog before Carter was born, you may remember that I created this sock monkey rag quilt for him. It was quite an accomplishment for me since I DON'T SEW!

A few weeks before Scissorbella moved out, she decided she needed to sew placemats and napkins. She searched for fabrics around town then decided to buy some from an on-line retailer. I helped her cut and measure the fabric. Here are a few pictures of her putting that old Singer to good use. She packed up the placemats before I got pictures of them. She'll probably take a few pictures of her new place to show everything off when she gets settled.

Hey There Cupcake!

I created this card using Stampendous - Hey There Cupcake. I used CTMH Level 2 Paper Packet - Paper Garden X7094B. CS is Sunkiss Yellow. Ink colors are Blush, Petal and Sunkiss Yellow. Stickles Cotton Candy and Yellow.

I bought a Mini Janome sewing maching!!! It was on sale! I really have been wanting to sew on some of my projects! It seems to be the rage!! If you remember.. I DONT SEW! Except for special occasions. Remember the baby quilt?? I try not to be a follower but I must be getting old and kinda like following.. I hope I don't get let astray!
