Daydream Believer

I had fun creating this page with Sweet Shoppe’s new kit, (just released today)… Beautiful Dreamer.   Great colors and embellishment that go perfect with this picture of my sweet Nelly.

Musicians

My Family has a lot of musical talent.   Everything from the piano, to trombone, to drums, to guitars..

My Niece just turned Sweet 16 a couple of days ago.  She plays the guitar and got a drum set for her Birthday.  Don’t you feel sorry for her parents?  I thought this card fit her perfectly.

I found the digital image on line.

Products used:   CTMH – Goldrush, Sunset, Indian Corn Blue. X7122B – You Rock. D1346 – You Rock.  Copic Markers. Digital image. Glitter. Seam binding ribbon.

My middle child,  Rockstar Chick  aka Janelle has been writing music for years.

Turn off the music player above and listen to her.

Here is one she wrote for her sister.. about their childhood. Princess and Purry were their favorite stuffed kitties.

What’s going on in My World

What a week!   My Handyman has been in Minnesota for over a week and I really miss him.  We missed our anniversary so the celebration will be at a later date.  His dad is battling Cancer.   Please keep him in your prayers.
Last weekend was a Family Bridal shower for Scissorbella.  My Mama was the hostess.
My Mom.

Her favorite gift!    She has a secret addiction.

Eric is doing good after his nail gun incident at Christmas.  He has been released to go back to work but his employer has no work so he went to Oregon for a month to work with a friend.  He’s also taught his cousin (Sarabeth) to love Green Day!

Carter is growing and learning good work ethics.   He helped his dad mow the lawn last weekend.. Read more HERE.

Janelle is still as busy as ever.  She continues to work 60 hours a week, write her own music,  play in two bands and I never see her.

I’m still busy getting wedding supplies ready.  The invites have been sent.   I have a little painting to do this weekend.. Hopefully a few cards to share too..

Snakes and Snails and Puppy Dog Tails

Eric brought a snake home from the school yard when he was about 9 or 10.  I was out front working in the yard when I seen him walking down the sidewalk, holding his arm as high as he could.   He had a hold of a big black snake!  It was longer than Eric was tall.  The snake had bit Eric’s finger so he had blood running down his arm. He didn’t care.  He had a huge grin on his face.   He had a new pet!   There ain’t nothing more exciting than that!   We found a box and put a wire lid on it.   It sat out on the front porch.  He put water and grass in the box and caught a few bugs for it to eat.   The next morning the snake was gone.   I knew it would be….  that was my strategy.  After all…  I am a Mother….  and I collected plenty of my own critters when I was a kid.

Critter Friendly

I’ve been digging through boxes of old photo’s and scanning them.   We are so blessed to have digital camera’s now.    Back when my kids were little all I had was a little 110 film camera.    Old scanned pictures don’t look so hot…
Punk Snowboarder – age 6

Scissorbella – age 3,  Rockstar Chick – age 5

We had all kinds of pets and critters when the kids were young.   Dogs, Cats, Rats, Mice, Spiders, snakes, lizards..  etc……
Eric was the critter lover.   He had a Tarantula when he was a teenager.  All the neighborhood kids knew about it and were continually knocking on my front door begging to see the spider.  8 year old boys and girls love that kind of thing… scary, exciting and unknown.
We had several rats..  They are actually one of the  best pets we had.  They’re very smart and social.  They’ll sit on your shoulder and lick your cheek.    Ash had one she named Melissa….  Well…  Melissa started getting a tumor on her side (very common in rats).  Ash was about 6 or 7 and very upset about her pet being sick.    Ash brought poor Melissa to me one evening after work.   The rat was barely breathing.  Ash had her laying on a towel, petting her and soothing her at the same time crying for me to call the vet.   Well the rat only cost $2.  Do you think I wanted to pay the vet $100 to just tell me it was dying?  Her dad and I were trying to decide what to do.  We had the feeling Melissa was going to die any minute.  We decided one of us would hold the rats nose until she quit breathing (without Ash knowing).  We went to get the rat and at that moment she took one last deep breath and was gone.   It was a blessing.  It was traumatic but part of life.   We put Melissa in a paper bag, wrapped her up real good and buried her out in the garden.  Ash didn’t want another rat after that experience.
More pet stories tomorrow……

Enjoy!

Bleeding Hearts

The Bleeding Hearts are now in full bloom. My yard is full of color! I love it! The miracle of rebirthing each Spring totally amazes me. I planted these in my back yard under Rockstar Chicks bedroom window because she loves them so much.. She hasn't lived at home for about 6 years. Each Spring when they start blooming I give her a call to let her know how pretty they are and that she better come home to see them.
