Last Winter I bought this old door.  I’ve shared it before.  It is an old wooden door cut in half with a few hooks attached to the bottom.  The slats are painted with chalkboard paint and is hanging in the entry of my home.   It has been fun coming up with new things to write on it. 

This is the current verse.

OH Baby!

Yay!  My Handyman hung the treasure I found.  It’s the old wood door cut in half .  It’s probably close to 4 feet tall.   I love it! 

Now I’m ready to pull out all of my Christmas Decor.  I’m ready to celebrate the Birth of our Savior..  and I’m ready to shout Merry Christmas to everyone!

PS… Does anyone have time to come decorate for me?  ;}

Distressed

I love vintage, distressed and kind of grungy things.  I went to a little holiday bazaar last weekend and had to buy this for myself.  I really should be shopping for others!

It’s an old solid wood door cut in half.  The sections are painted with chalk paint.   (I need to buy an eraser and chalk).  Rustic hooks have been added at the bottom. 

I am going to hang it in my entry.    It weighs a ton!   Don’t you just love it?   The lady is going to have a spring show and will email me.  She makes all kind of outdoor things, too.

I {heart} Fall!

Fall is the best time of year!  I love the cooler temperature.  It’s still nice during the day and the evenings are cool and great for blankets and cuddling.    
The leaves are turning. The colors are fabulous!  My favorite color palette ever!
I made a couple of fun Fall projects last week; both involving pretty Fall paper.

I found this trio of pumpkins cut from pine.   They were on sale for $1 at my local craft store.    Can you imagine the wheels turning in my head?   I painted the edges with Americana acrylic paint, traced each pumpkin onto beautiful designer paper, cut out and attached to the wood with Mod Podge.  After it was dry,  I sponged the edges with Tim Holtz distress ink – Wild Honey.  Isn’t that just a delicious name for an ink color? I then painted the entire project with a top coat of Mod Podge to seal it.

And speaking of pumpkins… I made a few more out of 1” paper strips. 12 to be exact.    Craft Warehouse had a nice selection of papers to choose from. I held each group of strips together with a brad at each end and fanned them open into a pretty pumpkin shape.

I cut the leaf shapes out with my Silhouette, then sponged the edges with vintage photo distress ink.

I found a spool of raffia that has wire in the middle.   I wrapped around a pencil to make a little curly vine.

Are you Star Struck?    I have never been the type.   I love watching a good movie, and I watch a few TV shows.. but honestly..  most of the actors;  I have no idea what their names are.  GASP!    Yes I know some of the BIG NAME STARS..  I don’t read entertainment magazines. I don’t know a whole lot about them. They’re just everyday ordinary people to me.  They have a job they do.  And acting is what it is. I’m pretty sure they go home at the end of the day and try to lead a normal life.   I’m not sure why they get paid so much.  Are they really worth it?   All that money could be helping so many people.    Well…  Enough about that.

My card today is using Verve set -  Star Struck.

I used my SU – all purpose ink – Champagne mist to make the star sparkle.

Shabby Chic

The rage seems to be Shabby Chic.    I have a couple of things that kind of fall into that category along with everything else in my country, prim, grunge, vintage, eclectic home.   I really don’t have a certain style.  I just have a hodge podge of items.

This cards falls into one of those categories.

aren’t you just the bee’s knee’s

Ever wonder where that phrase came from?   It became popular in the 1920’s;  probably because of the popularity of radio shows.    Bee’s carry pollen back to their hives in little sacks on their legs.  The allusion is to the concentrated goodness to be found around the bee's knee.    Hence the Phrase  “the bee’s knee’s”  meaning “the height of excellence.”
I started this project a couple of weeks ago, then have been busy doing other things.    Over the weekend I decided to finish it up.


If you don’t already know me very well,  I like the country, grunge, whimsical look.  Who knows what that means!    I cut out a piece of 1/4” birch plywood for the project.   Its about 24” long.  It’s sitting on top of the mirror in my entry.

I recently went to our local  Restore shop.   It’s a place for local contractors and homeowners to donate used and new building materials.   The shop sells to the public and all proceeds go to Habitat for Humanity.   I found a stack of various sizes of  old kitchen cabinet doors.   They make great framed projects.   I painted the one below several years ago.   More projects to come…..

Knobs

I have this shelf that has been sitting in my closet since last fall. I found it at an old barn bazaar and paid $1 for it.  Yes that is right.  Pocket change.  That is my kind of shopping.  Basically I own allot of other peoples junk!

I decided to hang it about a month ago and stacked all of my jelly jars full of buttons on it.    Its great wall decor and makes it quick to find button colors that I want.    Can you say button addiction? 

I was in a local craft store last week and found these cute little knobs.   I predrilled holes in the shelf then attached the knobs.

Aren’t they fun?

I have my little scripture cards hanging from one of them.   I may hang a couple of my small scrapbooks, too..
