Recycle to be Creative

I used a Coffee cup wrap in today’s card.   (See my blog from a couple of days ago to see another sample)   These handy dandy little wraps that keep my Hot Chocolate… well….  hot..come with a few different textures.   I like to add layers and textures to my cards. If you’re a regular blog reader of mine… you probably already know that.

See the pretty flower?  I punched out the flower from the cup wrap then painted it with a copper paint, then distress with distress ink – Soot.   I also scrunched a smaller circle that I punched out of an old book page, scrunched it up and distress it and added a brad to the middle.

I used a Cornish Heritage Farms stamp that is no longer available… The company went out of business about a year ago but just a few days ago I received an email that they may have sold all of their images to another company.

Oh!  I used the Viva La Verve June week 2 sketch template for my card.

Cherry Blossoms and Birds

Spring has sprung  a little too long… and just as predicted… the cooler weather turned into 95 degree’s.    The tree’s are done flowering and the hummingbirds are just appearing in Boise.

I created this card for the Mojo Monday week 195 challenge.   I didn’t quite get it blogged in time but I still love using the card sketches.

image

I have quite a bit going on with this card.   I cut up a coffee insulation wrap.  Even though I don’t drink coffee…  I like going to Moxi Java and getting a caramel hot chocolate.  Especially in the winter.    I painted the squares with pink paint then again with distress crackle paint.  Tim Holtz – worn lipstick.  I distressed the edges with Distress ink – Soot.

I used vintage photo crackle paint and painted directly onto the red rubber stamp for the bird.  I then stamped it on a textured vellum, waited for it to dry then cut it out.

Cherry blossoms are colored with copic markers.

Products used:  Basic Grey – Sweet threads. Spellbinders – Medium circles. CTMH – black, breeze. Copic markers. SU – Elements of Style. Distress ink – Soot. Vintage crackle paint – Worn Lipstick. Vintage photo.  CTMH – D1475 Card Chatter –Birthday. SU – edge punch. Button.

Sisterly Love

Several family members took a road trip to Eastern Idaho for my cousins wedding.   It was a fun adventure.   My sister came along and brought my three beautiful nieces.   They are so funny..   They act like they hate each other and are constantly doing something crazy..  but deep down inside…  I know that they love each other.  Some day they’ll admit it…  Until then…  I can not envy my Sister and I can just giggle at their crazy antics.

The Tree of Life

I’ve been fascinated with Art Journaling.   Some people also do Faith Journaling which is similar but focused on Faith.

I decided I would give it a try.  I’m just kind of sketching/doodling and seeing what happens as I go.

This page is The Tree of Life…   I’ve doodled and lettered the trunk and the branches then painted a little color with Twinkling H20’s … and that’s about it so far…   I have all kind of ideas floating around in my brain…  we’ll see what happens next.

Shoshone Falls

On our way home from Eastern Idaho, we stopped to see Shoshone Falls.  This year it is extra breath taking!  The Snake River water levels are at flood stage and the snow pack is still over 300% above normal.   You drive down into the canyon and there is a nice park for picnicking, and trials to hike with outlooks for better views.

The falls are known as the Niagara Falls of the west and is one the most impressive views along the famous Snake River.  With the waterfalls being nearly 1500 feet wide with water dropping a staggering 212 feet it is even a longer drop than the Niagara Falls which drops 176 feet.

One more reason I love this beautiful state of mine!

Two Hearts, One Love

I will be in Eastern Idaho this weekend for My cousin’s wedding.   My Mom had 7 siblings and so I have a lot of cousins on that side of the Family.   It’s going to be a great time seeing and visiting with many of them.   My Handyman will be home holding down the Fort.   I hope he doesn’t miss me too badly.  Yeah right!   He’ll be enjoying his 3 days of freedom.. you know… making messes, walking around the house in his underwear,  no bed making…   etc…

Since I needed to make a Wedding card.  I used the card sketch for the Mojo Monday Challenge.  Julee does and awesome job coordinating this challenge and there are a lot of amazing participants.

Flutter

My heart is a flutter with the new Spellbinder’s Die’s.  This new butterfly is fabulous!  I love how they nest together.

Happiness is like a butterfly which,

when pursued, is always beyond our

grasp, but, if you will sit down

quietly, may alight upon you.
