Week 17 – White

The theme for this weeks Project 52 challenge over at My Four Hens is WHITE…
White is not an easy theme.   Sure there are a lot of white things everywhere but what is good to take a photo of?     The white blooming tree’s have pretty much stopped after all of the rain we had this week.    Friday morning there was fresh white snow on the foothills but I didn’t have my camera.   Today I was out power shopping hitting all the fabulous sales and using my coupons.   I bought myself a new pair of sunglasses.
Later in the afternoon I realized I could take a picture of them!    Of course I was still out and about and without my camera again.    I snapped the picture with my phone using Instagram.    Hello Sunshine!

Homemade Washi Tape

Washi tape  is the craze in paper crafting.  For some reason I keep calling it Wasabi tape and probably won’t give that up anytime in the near future.  A couple of weeks ago for my Scrap*Life*Journal class our assignment was to make some homemade washi tape.   I finally bought a roll of masking tape and stamped away.   Nothing too fancy. The ink is slick and it is very easy to smear. I used craft inks and let them dry overnight before attaching them to my page.

I stamped some random flower images and a couple of butterflies.  I spritzed a couple of them with Glimmer mist and water colored a couple then cut them out.

Products used:   Cosmo Cricket Cs.  Masking tape.  SU craft inks. Distress ink – vintage photo.  Zig pen.  Glimmer mist. Blending pen.   Robins Nest Baubles. CTMH – Sorbet, Cranberry Red, Tulip, Creme Brulee.  C1494 Card Word Puzzle.

Amazing Grace

I took a vacation day today.   It’s been a nice day to just hang out at home with My Handyman since he was out of town on business all of last week. Parker Tree Service came this morning and Trimmed four of our tree’s. I’m hoping to grill steaks in a bit but I see the black clouds rolling in.

I decided to paint a project.  I’m thinking I may paint a few things and see how they sell,  possibly on ETSY and put the money I make towards a new sewing machine fund.  I really need to use up all of my surfaces I’ve been collecting over the years.

This sweet chicken is Amazing Grace and is about 15” tall.  As you know,  I love the vintage, grungy style (and chickens).   This is no exception. I did a lot of antiquing and sanding on it.    My paint of choice is Americana acrylics.    I based the frame with Traditional Burnt Umber then dry brushed the Napa Red.

I still need to dust it really well then put a varnish on it.   What do you think?

Week 16 – Perspective

The theme this week for My Four Hens Project 52 photo challenge is PERSPETIVE.    There are so many things you can do with this word.

Yesterday was my Granddaughter Kendall’s 1st birthday.    I decided to take a picture above her showing her perspective of that delicious birthday cupcake her Mama made for her.

It was such a beautiful day in Les Bois.  What a perfect day to have a party.  Can you tell she’s enjoying it?  It’s cute how she’s even trying to use her little fork.

Come Sail Away

Isn’t this a fun card?  I used my Silhouette to cut out the file from SVG Cuts.   I didn’t want it to be too girly.

It’s kind of tricky how the pieces are glued together and accordion folded so that when it opens, the circle in the front kind of pops out.

Products used:   SVG Cuts – Breezy backyard lever cards – sailboat.  CTMH – Heavenly Blue, Cranberry, Buttercup, Ocean.  PTI - Birthday Bash. Ribbon. Bakers twine. Button. Zig pen. Distress ink – vintage photo. Pebbles CS. Sewing tool. Silhouette.

This Makes Me Happy

Here is another page to add to my April Scrap Journal album.    There is a lot going on with this page.    I tore a page out of an old book, painted it with Americana Blue Mist acrylic paint mixed with a little bit of CTMH Z-1039 Pearl create a shade paint.  After the paint was dry, I stamped several images on the paper then added the heart.   I used some markers to draw a few things then spritzed with some Smooch.

When I was done distressing I finished it off with some hand stitching around the heart and edges.

(back of page)

At the right angle you can see how the paint shimmers.

Product used:  Old book page. American – Blue Mist. CTMH – Z1039 – Pearl Create a Shade. D1335 – Intrinsic Backgrounds. D1378 – Notice the Details C1439 – Enjoy life. SU – Smooch. Red thread. Teal thread. Sharpie colored markers. Distress ink – vintage photo. Zig marker – black.

Instagram

Are you into the Instagram craze?   It’s been an Iphone AP for quite a while.   The developers released the version for Android a couple of weeks ago.

It’s a fun little photo AP that works great for camera phones.   You can snap your photo, edit it and share.  You can follow your friends and find inspiration.

Here are few photo’s I’ve taken since I loaded it.   You can following me at CreativeMish.
