This is Me

I’ve been working on this digital scrapbook page for a couple of weeks.  As you can see…  it has a lot going on with it.

This is what I did:

  • Install a Photoshop .pat file
  • Create a custom background from pattern adjustment layers
  • Use Photoshop to "fake" a shallow depth of field on a photo
  • Create a multi-photo effect using masks and a .png frame
  • Experiment using text as texture
  • Create a lacy edge on a scalloped circle
  • Use the Rounded Rectangle tool to create a journaling block
  • Use the Burn tool with grunge brushes
  • Create semi-transparent ghost shapes

In It’s Place

It’s no secret that I like everything neat and tidy and in it’s place.  I am pretty organized.   My theory is…  if everything is organized and where it belongs… I save a lot of time.. Time is very valuable to me.

When I saw this shelf in the Pottery Barn catalog I knew I had to save up the money and buy it..    Its perfect for organization..  Well…  Mr.  Brown delivered it yesterday.

What is better  than organizing my craft room on a Friday Night?  I tell you…. I live a real exciting domestic life.!

There it is..  hanging on the wall.. Isn’t it beautiful?

This is the view when you first walk into my craft room..  It’s a typical 12x12 room (bedroom)

Here are a few close ups….  My desk hasn’t been this clean for ages.  I’m sure it will be covered again in a couple of days.

The Tiniest Thing…

Hummingbirds are so fascinating.   Such tiny little creatures.  So fast. So beautiful.    I have a hummingbird feeder in my back yard which occasionally attracts a few. I think I need to plant a pretty flower garden full of bright smelly flowers to really attract them.

Flourish makes the prettiest detailed stamps.  This one, Humming Along, is no exception.

Products used:   Flourishes – Humming Along. Basic Grey – Porcelain Paper.  Copic markers. Vintage photo – distress ink. Stickles. Ribbon. Brad jewel.

You’re a Keeper

How many of you like to fish?   I’ve loved to fish practically since birth…     My Dad especially loved it…   He rubbed off on most of us kids.    My cousin and I were looking through family photo albums a few years ago and were laughing about all of the fish pictures.  On almost every page were pictures of fish.  A string of fish, a table of fish,  someone holding a fish… etc…    She asked me if I thought she was weird for having them.  I said :Are you kidding? I have stacks of fish pictures, too.”

I purchased this stamp set ‘Keeper’ by Artistic Outpost quite awhile ago.  I finally had the opportunity to ink it up.  I water colored the image using Twinkling H20’s.

I love these stamps that look like old photo imprints.  I used to fly fish quite a bit with my kids when they were younger.  There is nothing more fun and exciting than catching a wild trout on a fly rod.  My Handyman is a Lake/Reservoir fisherman…  so I haven’t been for years.  I prefer the high mountain rivers and creeks.  I just may have to take it up again..

Products used:   K@Co – Lifes journey. Artistic Outpost – Keeper. CTMH – Desert Sand, Olive. Distress Ink – Vintage Photo.  Twine. Copper Brads. Twinkling H20’s.

The Cutting File Craze!

I was looking through the new Hero Arts book and see that they now have cutting files for Silhouette that coordinate with some of their stamps.  Is everyone into die cutting? Does everyone have some kind of cutting machine?

Close to My Heart announced last week that they now have a partnership with Cricut and they will be having an exclusive cartridge with approx 700 cuts.   This will be offered in the new August Catalog.   They will also have quite a few of their new stamp sets that coordinate with the new die cartridge.

This Hero Arts set is called Blossom Art and has matching cutting files available on their web site.  Find them HERE.

I colored the flower with my Twinkling H20’s and a water brush.

Products used:   Hero Arts- Blossom Art.  CTMH – Tulip, Olive, Chocolate. My Minds Eye – Bohemia.  Old book. Spellbinders. Twinkling H20’s. Aqua pen. Distress ink – Vintage photo. Stickles. Rhinestones. Sewing tool. Verve – Hope Blooms.

Button, Button, Who has the Button??

I’ve been collecting buttons for many years.    Why?   Who knows!  Why does anyone collect anything?  I just love them.  I use them on painted projects.  I use them on paper crafting projects…. Cards, Scrapbooking, etc..    I’ve even used them when I’ve had one missing on a clothing item…    Plus…. They’re pretty and colorful and well…..  buttons.

I painted this button box in 1995.   It has been roughed up and had a lot of attention.   My kids and nieces have dumped them out, counted them, organized them and probably lost a few.   My Grandson has even had his hands in them a few times.

These are in my craft room…

My Mama even found this little coin clutch for me last time she was at The Coast…   I just cant bring myself to cut the buttons off of it.   It will stay displayed on my shelf.

What do you Collect that makes you happy?

The View From My Back Door

Summer Heat =  I want to stay in the house with the cool air!    Yesterday was the low 80’s.  I love that weather!   Today is supposed to be  the low 90’s … and tomorrow is supposed to be at least 100.

When I got up this morning it was a cool 50 degree’s.   I went out back and snapped a couple of random shots.     The corn in the field behind us is really growing.   It is now taller than the fence.  I wonder if it’s sweet corn?

Can you see the Boise Foothills in the distance?

I have a flowering chokecherry tree back there, too.   It gets the prettying clumps of very sweet smelling white clumps of blooms each spring..  The tree is green when it first leafs out and gradually turns to a deep purple.     Those little blooms….. well they turn into small little chokecherries.

The chokecherries are just starting to ripen and the birds are now discovering that…

Over the next couple of days… this tree will be full of birds and the cherries will be gone….     This morning there were juvenile robins in the tree…  they didn’t like their picture taken.

What’s the view from your back door?

Enjoy!

Attributes

We’ve been asked by our church leaders to pick an attribute of Christ this year that we want to work on to become more like Christ.

I’m putting together a project for a Relief Society (the Women’s organization) class next week.   We are making a 5x7 paper craft project that we can frame to remind us. It has to be something fairly quick and simple.

I’m excited to teach the Women how to make these fun paper flowers.

What are some attributes of Christ?

Faith, Hope,  Charity and Love, Virtue, Knowledge, Patience, Humility, Diligence, and Obedience
